Redact nonessential names, phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, account numbers, children's details and private information about people who are not part of the issue. Be careful with photos: faces, number plates, house interiors, documents in the background and location metadata can disclose more than the subject of the image.
Do not rely on redaction that merely draws a translucent box over text. Make a separate copy, flatten or export it appropriately, then check that hidden text, comments, layers and metadata are not still available. Keep a record of what you changed. These are privacy steps, not a forensic process.

Try the task without an upload first:
Tell me the minimum information needed to help me [understand a bill / organise a timeline / draft questions about a message]. Do not ask for names, addresses, children's details or a full conversation. Tell me where a summary would be enough and what you cannot verify.
If the answer asks for more, add information in small stages. Stop if the request feels broader than the task. AI cannot know whether a screenshot is genuine, complete, edited or representative. It cannot infer a person's hidden motive from selected messages or photos.
